Nice win, but the performance wasn't great. Only slightly better than the same as I've seen all season.

The team was fine except for 3 things. henderson was poor, and seemingly always will be down the right flank. Spearing is not nearly good enough, and there's nothing he gives that anyone with good fitness, commitment, and just a reasonable touch at football coudlnt' also do. And the third is Dalglish. That's all that is wrong with the current side.

You've rolled in in sparkling delightful form anyway! I've seen your thoughts on the game in 3 or 4 threads now and I completely disagree with most of your thoughts/sentiments on the game. But hey, it's a forum, and we won't all always agree. You obviously just had a very different view on the game than I did, it's allowed! smile

Didn't see the game but I am glad we got the win, looks like consolation at the moment but better than nothing. No doubt we will be shet next time we play as this rollercoaster season continues.

SG in the final third is, was, and always will be a beast. What games he's played this season have seen him sitting back and avoiding the action, either by choice or instruction, and he simply showed last night how foolish that was. Except for Torres he's the best finisher we've had at the club since Owen. Other LFC strikers should hang their heads in shame at being so outclassed by a midfielder at their game.

I've resigned myself to seeing Henderson on the right for the rest of the season. Maybe if he can learn to cut inside more often like he did for the second goal he'll start to be more effective.

I didn't see the whole game - not televised on my package, it was all Champs League action, bah! But from what bits I've seen and read, Kelly was immense again. Seriously thinking about buying his shirt next season.

I would be quite happy to see this XI each week, just with more of Kuyt/Bellamy on the right, and Coates at CB. If Gerrard is going to roam forward like that, then I'm happy to see Maxi on the bench.

With that hattrick, Gerrard is now our leading scorer in 2012 (in the league). He also becomes only the 3rd player to score more goals for us than our opposition in the league. Not sure about cup goals, but I think he's leading scorer in all competitions now. And to think how few appearances he's made...

Amazing how good we are after Kenny revs them. Last time we were dire we followed it with a 3 goal massacre as well.

4th is still gone, but now we can look at securing 6th at least. More dropped points yesterday would have been a back-breaker. Next game is QPR, one of the few teams worse than us in the league this year.

And Stoke should be a little more apprehensive this weekend.

Suarez and Bellamy still lead in goals with 6. Gerrard with that hatrick is on 5 (in the league)

4th is Own Goal, with 4. frown

Yeah, I meant leading scorer in all competitions (where Own Goal is in form just as impressive).

Good result... great to end the losing run.

....BUT.... yes, there's a BUT I'm afraid. I thought Everton were unprofessional. Apparently they rested players with thier weekend game in mind and neither did they really get stuck in. Not much intensity for a derby game.

Even so, I though they posed a decent threat when going forward Baines is excellent down the left with some great delivery. And even before we scrored they seemed to attack in greater numbers and in a more organised manner than we do.

We seemed to play deep with only Gerrard getting forward to support Suarez and Carroll. We have no pace up front to take advantage on the break when they're pressing and we're deep.

Great result and glad for it... but not fooled by it. We've got a lot of work to do before we become a quality, competetive force.
