I know this thread will inevitably polarise into Kenny out vs. defenders of Kenny.
My own position is I did not think it was the right thing to do to offer him a three year contract however once we did so then we need to see it through.
Unless we implode I would like to see him given another season providing we show improvement in the league towards the end of the season.
However external events are starting to shape things. Trying to keep a balance to this argument but I feel these events are worth taking a closer look at. See attached article below in the mail which gives you an indication of the flavour of the press at the moment all of the papers are running similar themes. Look at this not through the eyes of a fan but through the eyes of the owners. There are three issues
1 – I am sure they will not have been impressed by the return on the transfer funds.
2 – Although we have had some success in the cups the league position and champions league is inevitably the owner’s main ambitions. The Carling Cup might impress the fans but its hardly likely to generate much interest in sponsors and hence Henry’s interest.
3 – The handling of the Suarez / Evra issue particularly this weekend where it appears the owners had to step in. The apology came mid afternoon here morning in North America.
By the way Dalglish handled it he is associated with Suarez and hence might be viewed as part of the problem. One of these issues could be dealt with but all three well who knows? I wonder if the owners might think about getting rid of Dalglish and Suarez to cleanse the situation. What might be the tipping point is the performance in the league up to May if it appears no real progress is being made and Downing / Carroll etc continue to flop then I wonder?
I like Kenny and I don’t want to give him more problems but if he stays he must improve his interview technique he does come across as very condescending.
