Torres, Owen, MacManaman, etc, are what modern footballers are, they hunt for glory and reward and in todays world who can blame them? A. E. Housemans words come to mind;
"Smart lad, to slip betimes away
From fields where glory does not stay
And early though the laurel grows
It withers quicker than the rose."
They have a short time span and have to make the best of it, in addition they see how little loyalty football clubs towards them, managers, coaches and other employees when it suits them to move people out, so I for one dont blame players from selling their labour for the maximum they can get for it, just like the rest of us. Having made that as a general point I do believe Torres exit was pretty shi*ty to say the least.
