I'd love it if it was true as we need a destructive midfielder like him and as he went to Barca anyway I'm sure all would be forgiven for wanting out under Hodgson, but I can't see it

We were always told that his reasons for wanting out was to do with his family not being settled in england. it's hard to see how that would change and given that we're no longer a cl team, i'm sure they'd be other suitors out there that he'd prefer moving do if such roumours are true - which i doubt they are

What about if we want to try and get top 4 spot, we will need 2 defensive midfield players, unless you trust Spearing and think he is good enough, so why not get him now and help us push for that spot?

i think it is rubbish any way but why not have both , we will need more cover for Lucas at some point any way esp if we do make top 4.

Lucas is out for a whole season so he is no use to us. We need defensive cover because lets face it, Spearing is not the quality we need while the likes of Gerrard and Adam lack the defensive abilities we need. There is plenty of time to fit Lucas back when he returns but at the moment we need another DM and Masch fits the bill.
