I hope you're right Mark, but this part caught my attention.
We are putting together a top notch team, in 2 seasons time we will be in the top 3
What makes you think we are putting together a top notch team? Enrique, Suarez, and Bells are the only players we've bought that are good enough. And Bells is definitely not a long term option. So that means 2 out of 9 players we've bought (including last January window) are good enough/long term solutions. Henderson and Coates could be included but I'll place them as a "wildcard" option. We've seen some good moments from them and some pretty bad ones. Ultimately we don't know how they'll turn out. The rest, however, are god awful and are our current starters. If we take out the players who aren't good enough/are aging and won't be around much longer then we look like this:
----------Reina----------
-Johnson--Skrtel--Agger--Enrique--
---?--------Gerrard----?--------
---?--------Suarez-----?---------
That's assuming Reina and Suarez don't leave this summer, and that Gerrard is healthy enough to start regularly. So when you look at it that way we are 4/5 quality starters away from being anywhere near the top 4. and that's not even including impact subs to bring on in case of injury or to try and change the game. maybe i'm being too pessimistic, but this is where we are in my opinion.
