On current form he's no better than Carroll. Been that way for the last 2 years.
My point, exacrly.
Just how many goals has he actually scored for that BIG club then?
'Bout the same as Carroll if my memory serves me?
Least we're £15M up ey?
Look, i see your point and I know you aren't a fan of Torres, but just tell me, did you feel that his form was picking up under kenny, he did score a couple when Kenny took over, just before he left for Chelski. I think his form was starting to pick up and he was gonna go on a scoring run. I feel that Chelsea's style of play doesn't suit him, just like ours doesn't really suit Carroll at the moment. Carrol feeds of good balls into the box, somethin g we are not supplying at the moment due to our wingers constantly cutting inside... I just feel that Kenny could definately get him firing again...
Now I analysed our transfer dealings and here is our history under Kenny...
Cost of players brought in by Kenny Dalglish Henderson -16m
Adam - 7m
Downing - 20m
Enrique - 6.3m
Coates - 7m
Bellamy - free transfer
Suarez – 23m
Carroll – 35m
TOTAL - 114.3 millionFees received for players leaving LFC under Kenny Dalglish
Konchesky -1.5m
Mavinga – 1m
Gerardo Bruna -0.75m
Ayala -0 .8 m
Poulsen -1m
N’Gog -4m
Meireles - 12m
Torres -50m
TOTAL - 71.05 m
Net Spend – 43.25 m Now if we were to add to that net spend, another lets say 30 million for Torres, it would mean that for a combined total of 70 million spent, we could have changed our frontline from Torres, N'Gog, Kuyt, Maxi to Torres, Carroll, Suarez, Bellamy, Downing which is a much stronger line up, there is no denying that, and has 1 player more, hence extra depth. Furthermore, that net spend of around 70 million would be lowered closer to the 55-60 million mark after we recieve fees for Kuyt and Maxi...But lets say those 2 stay, then for 70 million we have changed our attacking options from Torres, N'Gog, Kuyt, Maxi to Torres, Carroll, Suarez, Bellamy, Kuyt, Maxi, Downing...which gives us many more options...I think bringing Torres back for a fee no more than 30 million would be a good piece of business from the financial point of view and with the belief that Kenny could get him firing again I strongly believe it would make good footballing sense too. Will it happen? I highly doubt it, as a matter of fact I would put the chanes close to zero but I do think it would be good business.
