Wisest words I have heard yet on this subject. For christ sake lets put it to bed.
Your right it is getting boring, nobody has come out of this with any credit Evra, Suarez, the club for backing a person for using a racist word and worse of all Liverpool fans for showing blind loyalty and being two faced just because hes a Liverpool player and happens to be our best.

No ways, Give Suarez a 3 match ban and do the same to Evra because Evra reffered to Luis by his nationality too, not in a friendly way. So I don't mind Luis getting a reasonable ban as long as Evra gets treated the same. Evra is not cupcake, he instigated the incident on purpose so he too must be punished.

Liverpool have until January 13 to decide whether to appeal but their best option appears to be to wait until after tomorrow’s game at Manchester City before confirming the ban will be served.

Should the club draw their FA Cup third-round tie with Oldham, or a fourth-round match, Suarez would miss just four Premier League matches before being available for the February 11 visit to Old Trafford.

Interesting option and even more interesting for the punters smile

Liverpool have to appeal; the guy is being singled out by a kangaroo court with no legal authority whatsoever to find in this matter. He would have had a better chance in the court; the real court that is; a court of law that the F A do not have any influence over and cannot use threats and the media to make sure that Liverpool back off. Luis had been found guilty before he even answered the charge. Negro is an official racial classification, not a raciest term. He did not even use this now offensive term; he used a term like negretto which basically can mean anything from simply black to beloved. The intention is what is important and not the words. He may or may not have said anything that was abusive, but then Evra was at him the whole game and made threats of violence that he has admitted to. Why is he not being arrested for those threats to smash Luis in the face? The idiots in the F.A. will not admit that the problem is with the language and if there is any doubt you cannot find him guilty. The whole thing is a mis-understanding that has been blown up out of all proportion and the F.A know it. They needed a good case as they are also in trouble over Rooney and their stance on racism and they used this one to make an example of an innocent man. And why should he not appeal? He is entitled to do so just as anyone found guilty of anything in the criminal justice system will be. Terry, if found guilty of the crime of racism will be allowed to appeal and the FA will not be able to intimidate Chelsea the way that they have Liverpool this last two weeks. Making threats that if we appeal the ban will be increased is to say that they will disallow it in advance. How is this fair and justice? It is not about his guilt or innocence any more, or if he was being friendly or not or racist or not, but about the injustice of his hearing. There was no evidence against him. Evra said he was not racist; Manchester United said he was not racist; the FA agreed at first; so what is he actually guilty of; being a human being and having an argument with another player on the pitch? All players should be charged during every game if that is the case! No-one backed up the alleged words, as no-one heard them. In a court of law this would not be enough to find him guilty and the case would be thrown out. And how do you interpret what you are seeing on the pitch? So the exchange was not friendly; he may have been sarcastic but he was not being racist and that is what he was charged with. This matter should have gone to mediation and not this hearing. No, Liverpool, you have to appeal now! Appeal and then take them to court and tell them to go to hell when they make threats! Luis is innocent and we have gone political correct crazy in this idiot country of ours. The English are the ones who are racist not Suarez with all of these groups that make a fuss over a stupid word. Grow up! What have we to fear from words! And when is Evra and the Fulham fans going to be done for their abuse and harassment of our player?

Is there a petition we can sign to demand a climb down by Evra and the FA?

Whilst that is the due day back we need to bear in mind that in this country this time of year we often get bad weather. Only takes one postponement at an ill equipped away tie in the 4th round and the FA will be laughing. But as you say it is only 4 league games potentially and the boy has been flogging himself all season. Perhaps the rest will do him good and he can push us on when he returns?

Found this in the Independant.
I think this sums up perfectly why the club should fight this ban

Liverpool FC striker Luis Suarez's name smeared on a hunch
By Ben ThornleyJan 1 2012
IF you have neither the time nor inclination to read the Football Association’s hefty report on their investigation into the Luis Suarez/ Patrice Evra racism row, let me save you the trouble. After two months and 115-pages, the entire case came down to one man’s word against another’s.There was no evidence nor supporting witnesses to back up either player’s version of the events. And in the end, the much discussed linguistic nuances of the word “negro” and its use in South American Spanish mattered little.Language experts brought in by the FA concluded that what Suarez admits to having said – “what, negro?” – wouldn’t be considered offensive in his native Uruguay, but what Evra says he hurled at him would be.So it all came down to who the three-man panel believed. They decided Evra was the more credible witness, chiefly because his version of events tallied closer to the television footage of the incident than Suarez’sIt is worth noting, however, that while the Frenchman was allowed to give his evidence while watching the video of the confrontation, Suarez was not.The FA report also claimed that the Manchester United player’s testimony was preferred because he remained calm throughout – importantly, though, he was not the one on trial. As a result of the report’s publication, most media outlets are now presenting Evra’s claim to have been racially abused “seven times in two minutes” as fact when that is far from the case.Unlike in a court of law, the panel did not need to be satisfied that Suarez was guilty beyond all reasonable doubt, working instead to a balance of probability rule. And the word “probably” can be found in plentiful supply in the report.Essentially the Liverpool striker has been convicted on the hunch of three men.Is that acceptable when a man’s reputation is on the line?If Suarez used the word negro with the frequency and in the manner in which Evra alleges, he deserves every game of his eight-match suspension. But that hasn't been proven, with only the two players aware of the truth. And try as the FA might to suggest otherwise, the report hasn’t changed that.

Suarez would be better taking the FA and Evra to court and I am sure that there is something that he can do to clear his name. We have to stand behind him to a man and the FA should be told to be quiet and stop making threats. He has a right to an appeal, just as Terry will have if he is found guilty in a court of law. You should not be intimidated for exercising your lawful rights to appeal against a decision you believe to be unfair. He has been unfairly treated and the idiots in the racial defence groups and the media need to understand this. They have not heard or seen the evidence and have no right to comment on the case. They assume that Evra is not telling a lie or that Suarez is guilty and they have not realised that much is a case of miss understanding. He did not give inconsistent evidence; he has told the same story all along and not changed it. The video does not give anything away; it shows too people having an angry exchange, but one is trying to calm down, Suarez. Kuyt got in the middle and the referee did nothing to stop it from blowing up out of hand. In fact the ref did not even hear anything between the two players. Evra was angry that Suarez had got the better off him on the ball and he wanted him out of the way. He even made threats to hit Suarez. Why is that not being punished and all over the media?

Evra has been involved indirectly in two other incidents that he did not initiate, and both were thrown out. A third party brought the charges but he must have agreed to them. He also stated that what Suarez said was not racist so what is the problem with the panel, are they in fact racist against Suarez? Suarez himself is of mixed race and has black as well as Spanish ancestors, and he has played with many black players and he is far from a racist and his whole attitude, being with children during the world cup and just a few days ago for charity, speaks to his good character. He has a bit of a reputation, but so do many other players, such as Rooney and several other Manchester United and Chelsea players and a lot of England internationals. Had this case been the other way around, Manchester would have stuck by Evra and would have cried foul play and Sir Alex would have been on the front page every day and the FA would have not made any attempt to intimidate them for wanting to appeal. It is because Liverpool have made a stand and said no to the tin gods in the FA that we are having all of this trouble. Yes it is easier to take a ban and let it go and get it over with, but why should we be eight games without a striker? Why should he not have a chance to clear his name? Injustice should be stopped; and it only takes a thousand good men to do nothing for one evil one to triumph!

I agree; we do not know what Evra said to Suarez and why was he following Luis around causing trouble for to begin with?

Good idea! Then we could ask that he served his ban during the FA cup and had him during the real games. Just what would the FA do then if Liverpool pulled out in protest or if we took to the streets in protest.
