(bit of a long post but its wonderfully insightful

)
tonight was a real eye opener wasnt it.
Gerrard:
Redknapp said it best when he said there are some good players out there, and then there are great players. What a fcking brilliant goal that was. and just back after injury? superb. he was a total dynamo. delivery was excellent.
Andy Carroll and Delivery:
we have a clear picture on andy carroll now, and also on our midfield. gerrard showed the others how it is done, he is so football-clever that he knows how to use carroll. thank god, because carroll doesnt know how to use himself. he is extremely frustrating to watch, has no positioning sense, his feet should be cut off and the chance he missed on the 18 yard box could have been scored by any league 2 striker. He was certainly more use with gerrard there, but is the ultimate one trick pony and im not sure im comfortable with having a forward who is so criminally dependant on one particular type of cross to be effective. outside of heading he is a liability.
Then there is the midfield, they are not totally responsible for carroll but they need to step up. gerrard made them all look a bit foolish. if youre going to include carroll, you MUST be able to deliver that kind of cross.
Quick shout out to the back 4 and reina. starting to look very dependable, goal aside.
spearing put himself about and did well, that barcode fcker should have walked for the tackle on him. also, bellers, what a terrific acquirement that was (hairy head should have walked for the elbow too). kuyt did well when he came on. great closing down. like to see him play a bit more.
adam and hendo im starting to worry about. they look pitiful when compared to gerrard's 30 minutes tonight.
