I'd prefer Defoe, if we could get him, tbh. Can't see Villa selling Bent for a price that i'd be happy seeing us pay for him.

I don't think Bent is a target for LFC at all, I think perhaps he is seen as a backup plan. Personally I don't think he is the kind of player we need.
On a more optimistic note, there have been millions of rumours involving Cavani and Liverpool lately. I really don't see that deal happening but wouldn't it be great?
From what I understand a striker will definately be brought in in January, the question remains, WHO?

I too would rather have Defoe then Bent. Besides, Suarez has 8 goals in 19 games if you include the league cup, Bent has 5 goals in 15 games, hardly such an impressive goalscoring record, that people on this thread are talking about. Plus Suarez creates his own chances, and creates for others. We need a player of Suarez's quality, but more of a poacher. That's not bent. aston villa are one of the most boring teams and hardy ever create any chances. he is living on scraps. bents record is second to none

I'd rather have Bent over Defoe but wouldn't want to pay the over inflated price for either of them tbh.
Defoe will be £10 million at least which is too much for him, and Bent £15+, again too high.
We need to look abroad for a striker.

I could be proved wrong - or not cos we're more likely to sign neither - but i'd imagine Defoe would fit more into our system of play that Bent would. Just my own opinion.
