Those players added little to nothing to the team. Downing does add something to the team. I agree that he hasn't hit top form and hasn't done as much as we expected from him, but he's been decent in the last few games, and started off the season in good form. Just stop moaning about him and f*cking back him. bar he has been nothing more than rubbish mate , i understand your loyalty but its misplaced he is crap and was again yesterday and he dropped bellamy and took off maxi to keep him on the pitch when maxi and bellamy have done well maxi yesterday was great but of luck could had 2 or 3 goals .

How many more of these big money signings are we going to shelve on the bench because they asre not up to standard? The real disgrace is whoever signed Carroll and Downing for £55m. Money that has gone to waste and that we can ill afford to spare and could have been put to productive use. This has probably cost us champions league 2012 and 2013 in all likeyhood. So we have not just lost £55m but probably the revenue from future champions league putting the club further and further behind. Kenny is in a precarious postion if we have a bad spell now. He HAS to show continuous improvement or I fear Henry will lose patience. That's an insanely alarmist post. Would expect more from you, Stanley. You're talking about the manager being sacked, and us missing out on CL qualification for the next 2 years, when in reality we're playing great football all season (barring the finishing) and we're still very much in the race for a top 4 finish. Unnecessary. I am not calling for Kenny to be sacked. We are playing better football but thats not enough. We have to get champions league qualitfication I say so and so do our owners. Had we not wasted that money and now had a decent goalscorer and a right or left mid we would be far better placed now. Kenny has made mistakes big ones that does not mean I want him to be sacked but he has had a verbal warning. One more verbal and a written to go. Lets see how he gets out of this problem or it will be another trip to HR.

Look pal, if it was up to me, my first choice starting line-up at the moment would have Suarez, Bellamy and Maxi all playing, with Downing and Carroll on the bench. Downing was decent yesterday, he wasn't rubbish. I can't help but feel that he'd be getting a lot more credit if the finishing from his set-ups had been a lot better. Not to mention the 4 times he's hit the woodwork for us. I think he's getting a raw deal from some fans, that's all.

Lets see how he gets out of this problem or it will be another trip to HR. I agree that it's not enough, I really do. We've been the best team in every match we've played this season apart from one game. That's a great sign of promise. It's frustrating that our finishing has been poor and we haven't got more points, but we've been playing well and not getting the rewards - which could mean that our luck will turn sometime soon and everything will just start hitting the back of the net. I'd be more worried if we were getting lucky playing sh*t football week in week out. We badly need to sign a goalscorer. Not an industrious player who's gonna help out in defence and go wide etc - a f*cking goalscorer. I find a lot of people who agree with this now, are the same people who were giving out before that Andy Carroll wasn't adding enough to the team as a whole, when it was clear to anyone with a bit of sense that he should be in the box. Andy Carroll hasn't worked out fantastically, I still have faith he can turn it around though. He needs confidence, and that can only come from scoring goals. I think EVERYONE will agree without doubt that we overpaid for him. The amount was obscene. The pricetag aside for a minute, you said that we should have gone out and bought a goalscorer instead of signing him - need I remind you he was the top scorer in the Premiership at the time and had been banging the goals in so far that season, and the season before in the Championship too. People are writing his eulogy far too early. If it doesn't happen for him, it doesn't happen - it wouldn't be a first time - look at people like Torres and Shevchenko - it happens. But look at Peter Crouch. Wasn't it December before he even got his first goal for us? Who's Kenny's had a verbal warning from??

sorry for 20 million he doesnt create he doesnt go passed defenders he doesnt score and doesnt get involved enough ok he might come good but up to now he is not good and he doesnt show signs of vast improvement were maxi and bellamy have . I don't have a problem with you not rating him, or thinking we overpaid, but when you completely ignore the truth, then it's a problem. You say he doesn't create. First half, cross, right on Suarez;s head for a free header which Suarez wasted. You can't create much better chances from crossing. As I've said before if all 10 outfield players could produce just one great chance like this a game, we'd be the most creative side in the country! It's not the first game either, this happens more than you think. He has been one of the top assist makers in recent times (see quote below). You say he doesn't beat defenders but I saw him do it several times yesterday, one of which he was brought down almost for a penalty, was just outside the area. You say he doesn't score, well I seem to remember him scoring against US last year. He scored 8 last year, which for a winger is not too shabby. You're just ignoring what's actually happening out there. Same attitiude that would have run Lucas out of this club years ago. And you're ignoring that he played OUT OF POSITION, and not for the first time this season either. A certain player happens to have completed more successful crosses in the past three seasons than anyone else in the Premier League; he is the top-flight’s 5th-most successful chance-creator over the past seven seasons, and the only one of that top five to not be in a Champions League side over the duration (the other four being the world-famous quartet of Fabregas, Gerrard, Lampard and Giggs). His club’s Player of the Year, he is someone who has regularly registered in excess of ten assists a season throughout his career, with as many as 14 in 2006/07, and is capable of getting double-figures in goals (he did so in 2007/08, and was just one shy of last season). All this, and on average fit to play in all but three games a season over the past five years. (Stats courtesy of Opta Joe.)
But Stewart Downing is ‘rubbish’, a ‘waste of space’. He’s apparently not fit to wear the shirt. Despite that previous paragraph, which proves to the contrary, he’s ‘crap’. blind spot one or two crosses isnt good enough and he hasnt played out of position all season and didnt all match , bellamy deserved his place in the team over downing .
