Top 4, lack of investment in the team in the summer and the constant instability at the club makes it hard to demand either the Premiership or the CL this season.
fact remains rafa didn't do his job in the summer, infact he was just plain lazy.
right he had no choice in alonso cause he balls that up good and proper.but he signs and injured player as a replacement and this guy will not be ready until jan-feb,he should get at least a month in the reserves but we have to push him to start. also he allows mascernaho to stay ,although not with a new contract so basically mash is just playing out time this year. he should have sold mash as well. its criminal that he didn't sort out the centre of midfield ,should of got senna in or melo , someone to dominate like xabi did, but rafa prefers his yes men
Thats nonsense.
Last season we came closest to winning the Premiership than for 19 years, beating Real Madrid in CL, doing double over Utd and Chelsea in the league.
Last season our problem was that we didn't put away sides at Anfield and therefore needed some more creativity going forward.
We lost Alonso in the summer, an important loss as he set the rythmn of the team. However he wanted to leave and was willing to push for that and we did get top money.
We've signed Johnson, who has been a revelation going forward and given us an extra dimension.
Now given the fact that our problem was breaking down teams last season the signing of Johnson and Aquilani has been designed to address that problem.
We spent no money in the summer when we should have had enough money to invest in our squad but that money went in interest payments to the banks on the debt the club has.
If you have not got the money but can sign someone who is more worth money than you have, but is injured, sometimes its worth the gamble ... the issue with Aquilani is not 4 months he'll miss but the next 5 years to see whether it is a good or bad decision.
Therefore to say he is 'lazy' is ridiculous. Rafa has taken a gamble using the resources available.
Monster is a world class player, I think 90% of LFC fans agree on that. Senna is too old, Mela is a good player but doesnt dominate games, neither offer an improvement on Monster.
Now I know you would have preferred us to sign Richard Dunne and Kevin Doyle...
