I am not saying Souness was a great manager far from it. However he gets a lot of undeserved blame. He tried to sort out the mess king kenny left and changed too much too fast. However it was the right idea and it paved the way for Houiller eventually who too the team forward but based on the training methods and modern approach Souness started.

stanley souey's record wasnt good and the one error of judgment i refered to was the article which he has admitted to but was misinformeed by the club about at the time , yes the methods souey applied to training and preperation were ahead of there time , now it done automaticly , he did do things far to quickly but he also did some good things IE rob jones, robbie fowler , steve mc mananaman , playing jamie redknapp and mark wright after a poor start ended up being a rock and one of the best , and won the F.A.Cup plus his feats as the greatest captain and midfield enforcer he won everthing yes manangement tranished but p;aying career bright as a diamond souey is a legend a true liverpool legend and should be reconised like one .

Man management might have been his problem but never football acumen. If he has learned to marshal that aspect of his management, then he will come back stronger. He was already formidable before. That said, Kenny Dalglish must be given the season to manage. We cannot judge him, the new players and the owners so early in the game.

By and large I agree

Whilst he probably took the club as far as he could (withiut winning the holy grail), had a mixed record in the transfer market and left his successor with a squad that wasn't much better than the underperforming one he himself inherited, to write Rafa off as a failure is totally unfair

He did more in his first two years than most of his predecessors and for all the duds he brougft some fantastic players to the club who we simply wouldn't have got had he not been here

When you throw in the difficult circumstances he was working under too, I think you have to consiserably simple not to appreciate the fact that under him we were one of the most feared teams in the champions league - punching above our weight in that competition season after season

I can't EVER see that happening under the overrated Daglish

Let's also throw in the fact that the press - partcuilarly the tabloid press - utterly despised Rafa for daring to start a war of worrds with a man whose ass they have licked throughout their maggot-ridden existence - Ferguson
