no any true fan wants cups and to win cups .

I agree I am up for the Carling cup dont get me wrong and I think we should play a strong side but at the end of the day getting into the champions league is the clubs target carling or FA is a bonus. The chairman has said it, the manager has said it, nearly all the fans say it what more is there to be said?

of course i agree with that too, but if your asking me what the priority would be, id take the league every time.

All the Champions League is about is money, how any true fan can talk about the Club making money above success and Glory is totaly beyond me, one season at a time, we are not even in the Champions league this season so how can it be more important than winning a cup THIS season.

WELL......what greater glory and I say this again WHAT greater glory was there than 77, 78,81, 84, 05?????? Yes it is about money that what modern football is even to win the carlling cup. But you apeak to any Liverpool fan even the old gits like me and I would bet you 99% say the european nights St Ettiene, Auxere, Olympiacos, Juventus, Chelsea. We must have those days back at Anfield and no the europa wont do. If we have to sacrifice the Carling cup to achieve that then so it must be. End of message.

Have to disagree with you there Stanley, what did Shanks say about Europe as good as it is and the bread and butter which is the League Championship, I can still see the video now with him pointing at the gleaming League Championship trophy his eyes sparking wide and he points at it and says " and see this, and thats what we want to win all the time " so if it's good enough for him its certainly good enough for me. I must admit some of the best nights of my footballing life have been in Europe St Ettiene, Istanbul e.t.c. but as good as it is being the best team in Europe nothing can beat being the best team in your own country I was at Wolves 76 when we clinched it as a boy on my uncles shoulders in the old South Bank, when we beat Spurs with Clem in goal last game of the season after going behind to a Hoddle goal half time and also at Stamford Bridge in 86 when Dalglish scored, I have also suffered my biggest footballing disapointment when Mickey Thomas scored last kick of the game that Friday Night. I love Europe but nothing beats the domestic game in this country beating Everton at Maine Road and also piping them in the F.A.Cup in 86 ranks alongside the great European nights for me even though they may be less prestigious competitions.

+1 its all about the bigger picture. some people dont get that obviously. if you dont like the modern game the way its gone thats fair enough, but thats the way it is now.
we need to be in the champs league thats our biggest priority as a club, anyone who thinks otherwise is either very naive or very stupid.

whats this bigger picture ? even if liverpool did get 4th its guarantees nothing , dalglish has never managed in europe to any sort of success and liverpool would need loads more players to play in europe because going by what you say and dalglish says this squad isnt good enough to play one extra game before january , but the squads of fulham , stoke city even birminghan city seem to cope well enough with playing in the europa league plus the league cup game they played plus league matches never mind arsenal chelsea man city and man united , but after multi millions spent to revamp this squad its not up to one extra game according to you and the defeatist dalglish .
