Wrong mate. I've read many many posts that have little regard for the carling cup. They have labelled it as 'worthless' and many people even mentioned '3 points' is far more important than winning this trophy. No one rates this cup besides a few and to me that says they don't want anything to do with a cup win, it really does suprise and annoys me at the same time because this defeatest attitude among our fans is the reason we are in this precedement.

Winning this trophy will mean a lot to me as a Liverpool fan because I have not witnessed glory for years and any other fan that regards this trophy as 'worthless' either has no hope and has a defeatest attitude or just wants Liverpool to go out trophyless for many years.

Just to clarify, champions league football is definately more important at the moment but believe me this cup can lift us and give us a great winning mentality especially since we have a new team and will not harm our league form. We can keep getting points while winning this trophy.

I don't mind fans when they say I would rather champions league football, but what kills me is those fans that say this cup is worthless and they would rather trade it off with 3 points.

Lets get behind the team, we definately can achieve success on both fronts.

Very simply, the Carling cup is a great place to start trying to build success,4th place, the F.A. cup and the Carling cup are all very important and achievable targets this season if the right effort is put in,success breeds success.

So the pointless debate continues. I guess there's quite a few of us with nothing better to do... including me it would seem whistle

Anyway, haven't we all realised yet that this is simply a matter of preference? there's so wrong and there's no right. Just preferences.

We have a large mix of fans. Some local living within 4 miles wink of the stadium whilst others are as far as say China. I'd guess the local guys want equal importance to be given to domestic cup competitions whilst the international guys in South Africa, China etc. want to see Liverpool do well in the 'EPL' and the 'UCL' above all else. Just different perspectives - no wrong, no right. Neither side will convince the other no matter how long or loud it shouts.

The club will try and win all the matches and at the end of it all, some of us will be happier than others depending on how the results go. hopefully we'll win 'em all and we'll all be as happy as Larry smile (btw, don't ask me who Larry is! crazy )

The only thing I can see being an issue is if Kenny does carry out his threat of playing a weakened team. I don't think he'll do that. Any players omitted will only be because of injury of medical advice I suspect. Else Kenny will have to answer to Faz let alone the Football League!

The question was; if you had to choose between beating Chelsea in the cup or the upcoming league match which would you choose? People who choose the 3 points (rightly in my view) Were not necessarily saying they don't want to win the cup (we all want to win every thing we are involved with). They were simply stating their preference for the 3 points, as CL is our main target this year and more important for the rebuilding process than the Carling Cup, even though if we do win this competition we will all celebrate winning.

Also the club should target a range of goals not just one which is the sign of a lesser club which hopefully we are not, well not yet anyway.
yes very nice mate but winning a cup must be priority how much longer does this club have to go before going to wembley and winning a cup , i seriously dont see how liverpool going to a cup final and winning a cup is somehow (nothing or worthless) , this is a hangover from benitez this who just dismissed the domestic cups well sorry he was very very wrong to do this and it was contemptuous to say the least , 6 years going into 7 years and liverpool havent won anything , its just shortsighted madness for liverpool not to want to see liverpool win things , and liverpool are on the brink of a possibly cup final chance and it is being called(lesser,nothing,worthless,5hitty,mickey mouse) well if liverpool winning is all that we may as well fold the club to say liverpool possibly winning a cup is not worth winning is just a disgrace .

Nobody is saying the Carling cup is worthless but can't we go for that and other things too? Have you never heard of multi tasking? Bob Paisley used to win the league cup for fun but his main focus was the league and european cup. But he tried to win all the lot. Yes we are a shadow of what we were back then but winning the carling and going for fourth should not be beyond us. I am struggling to understand where you are coming from ?

If we are going to have to rest players as the incompetent Dalglish is hinting at then maybe we should look at resting the against City instead of the Cup game, I say this as we have more chance of getting a good result against Chelsea and might as well right the City game off as it's most certainly a defeat given what we have seen and know this season of the two Clubs. I honestly think we can still afford to get beat against City and in my opinion stay on course for what I think we will achieve this season which is a top six finish and place in the Europa League. We are in the quarter finals of the Carling Cup first time in years and I can honestly say there is a little tiny bit of a buzz going around the Liverpool fans in the City at the moment which I am sure will increase if we can manage to knock out Chelsea, first time we have started to get a little bit excited for years with hopefuly a trip to Wembley beckoning, we dont get much as Liverpool fans to make us happy now anymore so chances like this need to be milked while we can...
