The atmosphere (or lack of) at Anfield is getting worse almost embarrassing sometimes. I know we can never go back to the kop of old but even in the years following it going all seater the atmosphere was 10 times what it is now. Against Swansea the kop never sung once or if it did I cannot recall it. Just looking at point on another LFC forum someone made. That was the clubs decision a few years ago to expand the season ticket and fan card system such that the, majority of people who go there now are like me not in awe and its almost a routine. Whenever I have a spare ticket I cannot give it away because people are out of the habit of attending. 10 years ago people would attend the odd game or go for the first time and be excited about the event. Now we have a fixed number of permanent attendees (normally middle aged or elderly) attending as a duty sitting there in silence. I wonder whether this is affecting performances on the pitch and contributing to the decline of our club which we can see unfolding before our eyes. According to the PL average attendance is in excess of 44,900

Ok, you've suggested the atmosphere is bad Stanley. What's the solution?
A 0-0 against Swansea is not that much to get excited about really. But I realise you're talking about more than just that game. No solution, football Clubs are now being touted around as being global rather than the more tribal places with identity they used to be years ago, it's very hard to strike up an understanding or connection with fellow supporters when you dont have anything in common with them outside football and in some cases dont even speak the same language, you cant even sit with friends and family now, I have mates in completely diffrent stands and we all sit by ourselves how is this going to bring a closer more united atmosphere.

In the 1982 - 83 season we had only 12,021 in attendance at a European Cup game, so nothing new in small crowds from time to time especially in a recession.

Nothing to get exited about in small attendances from time to time...I rest my case

From what I understood, he wasn't blaming the lack of atmosphere on the 'day-trippers' at all.
