What makes a good manager stand out is someone who reacts to bad signings for the good of the club and won't stubbornly play them when it is clear they are having a negative effect on the team. This is where Benitez excelled; like all top managers he made signings that didn't work out but he has clever enough to move them on quickly.
It it wasn't working for the player at Liverpool - Rafa was pretty likely to move them on - in stark contrast to his predecessor who used to insust that the likes of Smicer, Heskey and Traore would come good - even though they spent most of their Anfield carrer proving to the rest of us that this was highly unlikely
One player Rafa did persist with under difficukt circumstances was Lucas - and I guess he can claim the last laugh with regards to that decision
Rafa did get stick for frequently rotating players although I feel now that there's too little rotation, Daglish seems to stick with thew same team ghame in, game out - which should be a worry for someone like Dirk Kuyt and for us bewcause for me the team plays much better when Kuyt is in it - whether up front alongside Suarez or wide on the right
Kuyt; Henderson; Carroll - He might have been the cheapest of the trio, but IMO Kuyt is a MUCH better player than these two at the moment abd leaving him on the bench is bad management - plain & simple - especially to accomodate these two - one of whom isn't fit or in form (but might comne good once he is), whereras the other was a complete waste of money and I simply cannot believe that if Kenny was as great a judge of player as some on here claim why he'd sign him
at the time I thought it was Comoli's work but Kenny's tram selection since he's signed has convinced he must have been Kenny's signing all along
Again as with Lucas and Kuyt - himself during his unhappy second season - the ball is in the player's court to make people like me eat my words, but my ferar is that if Kennt keeps playing him players like Kuyt will conclude that theor future lies elsewhere
