I say loan the guy out, let him have a go at playing every game at wolves and judge him on consistency over the season. He will only play the odd game so good opportunity to give the lad a chance to prove himself. Take shelvey aswell to see if they can form a deadly duo partnership

I got mixed feelings on Jay Spearing. He needs more game time to become a better player. So going on loan is an option where he can get games week in week out. On the other side , he has already established himself with King Kenny's squad last season. He even got in front of Christian Poulsen in pecking orders. He can even make King Kenny to make a decision to play Raul Meireles on the flanks and leaving Spearing in the middle. That really shows the trust and belief that King Kenny had shown him so far. It would also be a waste if the hard work that he has put in last season to establish himself in the first team gone to waste by going out on loan. Keep him and play him with the best to be one of the best...

Gerrard, Aquilani, Meireles, Lucas, Adam and probably Henderson are all better than him. Shelvey will probably overtake him in terms of talent anyway. Then we've got players like Coady and Suso even younger to come through.

The only reason he's praised is because he's from Liverpool. He's an average player who puts in a lot of effort. For that he should be praised, because many players don't work hard enough. But he's too average to be our solution in central midfield.

That's incredibly harsh. It's a bonus in people's eyes that he's from Liverpool, yeah. But it's not just that. He played fantastically well for us in the last 7 or so games of last season and i think he deserves a lot of credit for that. Maybe you should cut him some slack? I'll say one thing for him in relation to the players you've mentioned - he's done a hell of a lot more for us than Aquilani ever did in his season with us.

He's an average player who can do a job because he works hard. But he's not that talented. Now you could say the same about Carragher many years ago. But I think Carragher made it because he would and could play anywhere. I don't see that with Spearing. He's not going to be a winger or a centre back for example.

As for whether he's done more than Aquilani. IN Aquilani's half season with us (because he was injured for a lot of it), he was our highest assist maker. Spearing? Nothing. So you're wrong on that.

How many opposition moves did Aquilani break down? How many tackles did he make? How much backtracking did he do? How many frees/penalties did he win? Don't quote me assist statistics and use that as conclusive proof that i'm wrong. They're different types of players, and my opinion is that Spearing did more for us that Aquilani has. Also, i never said he was a world beater, so don't put words in my mouth, unless you want me to do the same to you.

My opinion is that Spearing just does a job, and a job that Lucas does many times better. Why do we need him? Do you really think he's better than Lucas defensively? Do you think he's better than Aquilani, Gerrard or Adam in terms of creativity? Better than Meireles at scoring goals? Why do we need him?

What i actually said - if you'd learn to read instead of jumping at me - was that he's done more for our team than Aquilani has. I didn't say he was a better player. Lucas was outstanding for us in the defensive midfield role last season and rightly deserved to be our P.O.T.Y. in my opinion. I think Lucas is better at Spearing in that regard. But i think Spearing's passing and vision is slightly better. He has a lot of tenacity too. My point anyway, is not as to who is the best player - it's just about giving credit where credit's due.

You can't say that we don't need him just because we have other midfielders. In that case you may aswell pick our best 11 players and bin the rest because they're not as good. He offers something slightly different to any of our other midfielders, and it's always good to have as much variety in our options as possible.

You can only compare them when they both played over the same time period, and Aquilani did far more for the team in that period.

Okay i'm opting out of this conversation - i know when i'm up against a brick wall. Gave my opinions on the lad, not gonna get pulled deeper into a pathetic discussion.
