why bother getting up in the morning red4life. the thing is liverpool have not fell behind a bit , liverpool are years behind and chelsea have thrown multi multi millions at it and bought the best players and got mourihino were our manager after intital sucess wasted the money he had .

Red! the point is we don't expect anything other than the club to try and win things, you are being very presumptuous in assuming all LFC fans think we have a right to win, well id say you cant tie all the fans views together like that,i think your mistaking ambition, hopes and dreams for shear pie in the sky as you seem to want to think,if you are so sure were not good enough to win things then why aren't you happy with that? why is so important for you to convert others to the negative view.peoples outlook on life is very bleak when they naturally look on the down side of things. most would resist that though and choose optomism.Fans who are used to winning things strive to repeat that, its called hope, big money clubs will pay anything to experience what our club has experienced, thats called history.

Good point brilliantly made. But Red also has a point. Yes hopes and dreams can sometime get mistaken for arrogantly assuming we have a right to win things, but the line between them is very very narrow at the moment. Do you think Newcastle, a club with a glorious history has notions/hopes and dreams of winning the title next season? Admittedly they start from further back than us in terms of quality but we are very far behind the leaders in quality as well. So whilst the poetry of hopes and dreams is nice, and believe me I have high hopes for the club this season as well, I can see his point that to have such high hopes as to compete for title, these dreams are wrapped in arrogance of assuming we deserve to be up there. Because to any brain not already steeped in the glory of LFC (opposition fans), they can blatantly see how far away we are. So it is a mix of you both really, yes they are just hopes not assumptions, but to have such high hopes there is a certain amount of unfounded arrogance in them as well.

Liverbird if you support a club and don't want to win things whats the point? Everyone on here wants Liverpool to be sucessful but we all have our own opinions of where we are positioned. And thats good if it werre not so the forum would fold as everyone would be saying exactly the same thing. My own view is Liverpool are well behind our main competitors either in our infrastructure and / or our financing. Until that is put right we will not get back to the days of the 70's and 80's. Money is all in modern football and the chances of a Derby County or a Notts Forest coming through as in the old days are absolutely nil. Liverpool are still a huge club of course but breaking into the top tier will be beyond us until we correct the 30 years of off field neglect which has now caught up with us. Anyone who feels different (and I may be wrong) I would welcome your opinions.

Yes stan i agree with you on most points, we are behind others in many ways money etc,but my point is sometimes there is an outlook of total doom and gloom,i believe we all do and should have our own opinions, but just because we have hope doesn't mean we are arrogant! that's an opinion yes but i am not arrogant i simply choose to acknowledge our faults but try to instill some hope, where as i have to say some fans view are always negative without ever expressing there own hopes and dreams, you can have them without being unrealistic or arrogant it would be nice if our fellow posters can express there hopes of winning something without worrying that there being unrealistic or arrogant, then again maybe that's being too optimistic!

Any idea if Doni is any good?
That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

Liverbird agree you have to be otimistic thats what football is all about. Its now the close season and every fan in the land will be hopeing this is their season. For me my bit of otimisim for LFC is getting back in the chamions league and it will be hard but we can do it. I will be 100% cheering them on for that
