I agree with you BarLennon that we need a Left Back. But with Jack Robinson waiting on the wings. Seriously I do not wish the club to sign a left back and prevent the future star like Robinson from developing into first team material. It's a dilemma when that position needs reinforcement immediately when we do have a future star there. Surely we do not want to throw Robinson into that position so soon as it might affect his confidence sooner rather than later like what we did with Insua. I used to believe that Insua was our long term player in Left Back position but once he made a mistake, then as a young player , he continues to make them one after another. So it's kind of dilemma right now...

Yeah i see your point alright, Durgarry, but i don't think it'd be right or fair to put all our eggs into the one basket that is Robinson. He's still a very young lad. I'm very excited about him, i like what i've seen of him so far, like everyone else. But players come and go, and Stevie, Carra & Pepe aside, players come and go, there's a constant revolving door of players at Anfield, and even if we sign someone like say, Enrique, who's to say he'll still be there in 3 years time? At which time Robinson would only be about 20?

Ok mate. Now I understand you better. What you said is true and I agree with you fully. If we can get rid of Insua and Konchesky and maybe Aurelio too , I would love us to sign a very good left back and Stephen Warnock as a back up at least for next season. The reason I like Warnock is because he is a no nonsense defenders whom can strike fear on oppositions with his tackling. But for right now , apart from Jose Enrique , who is the best candidate(s) to fill in that position? I would have loved Leighton Baines but it seems like impossible since he is in Everton now...

We do still have Fabio Aurelio and Emiliano Insua who are genuine left back. Aurelio is the best if he can keep fit. If he is not then there is Glen Johnson , who excel when he switch flanks to the left last season. If Johnson do play on the left , there are Martin Kelly and John Flanagan who made a breakthrough last season. I think this season Martin Kelly should be given the Right Back position and he will excel there. For Glen Johnson , I believe he can fit at Left Back or even the Right Winger position. We all witness how Spurs converted Gareth Bale from Left Back to Left Winger and how he became so gooood in that new position due to his lack of defensive qualities. So why not do the same thing to Glen Johnson? And the best thing about that is, if he plays on the Right Wing position , he will be leaving his Right Back position to 2 of our upcoming star in Martin Kelly and John Flanagan...

Yep, I could live with that, but would prefer to see us signing a top class LB (as a minimum strengthening of our defense) as these makeshift set-ups are never ideal, in my opinion.

I've been dying for us to sign Stephen Warnock for ages. I loved him in his first stint with us, and he's improved a lot since leaving. Just a shame he fell out of favour with managers at Villa. I was really disappointed we didn't get him on deadline day in January. As you say, he loves a good tackle, that's something i like to see in a player!

Well...I thought I was the only one crying out for Stephen Warnock. Seriously I think that he could be the cheap but effective alternative that King Kenny have to fill in at the problematic Left Back position. Few positives is that he is Enlish and he is Scouser , so he would not have any problem at all if he were to be in the Liverpool squad again. That would make at least 2 fans happy...

Lol yeah, grin Even if he was signed along with another left back, he could provide a good option, and that would allow us to offload both Insua and Aurelio.
