That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

Hero worship. People still adore Alonso because he was and is everything that an LFC player should be. Off the pitch he has class and dignity, and has respect for the club and for the fans. He's not one of your modern egomaniac footballers, and comes across as a down to earth lad. The fact that he's returned to matches to watch the Reds at Anfield, and that he's done an exclusive interview with LFCTV about his time here show that he has LFC in his blood.
On the pitch he was just as classy. One of the most elegant footballers i've had the pleasure of watching. Fantastic passer of the ball, fantastic vision, and could hit them too. In his first 2 seasons with us he was brilliant. In the following 2, his form wasn't quite up to the previous standard. The way he was treated by Rafa was cold blooded. Did he sulk? No, he didn't. He followed it up by having his best season for us yet. To say it was because he was trying to engineer a move away is a [oops] disgrace. One good season for us, my arse.
Hero worship. Yeah, because he was a hero for us, and that's the way he should be remembered. Some people have very short memories, and maybe just like to go against the grain regardless of which way it's going. I don't believe his departure is solely responsible for our decline in the last couple of years, but it undoubtedly played a massive part. If we could re-sign him tomorrow i'd jump at it, and we'd be much better off for it. Until then, he'll go down in my book as a Liverpool legend. great post well said totally correct . 3rd time. GREAT player, no doubt at all. Other than that, what a load of old bollox THAT ^^^^ was.

Stevie G is a hero in footballing terms and was only short of the cape in Champions League 2005. Alonso falls a long way short of that mark still a very good player who has shown great respect to LFC

Outside footie though................

I would say it will never happen, but then you look at Torres. Personally though I think Alonso is happy and does have more of a love for us and wouldn't make that move. I reckon he would come back to us at some point.
