We also need another forward, unless Kuyt is going to be number 3, which would make the right wing even more urgent, and even then I think most wouldn't be that happy with Kuyt up front for a large part of the season. Plus we need another central defender.
So most fans know we need about 5 players in positions other than central mid first, and yet our only signing has been central midfield, and then we hear talk about us signing Gago, centre mid, and Adam, centre mid. It's enough to make me wanna get burger.
I get the impression kuyt will be used alongside Susarez probably as frequently as Carrol next season - and why not because they looked a better partnership than Suarez and Carrol although obviously once Carrol is fully fit that will ber the time to judge
I could imagine Kenny paying Carrol down the middle with Kuyt and Suarez to the right and left respectively - and given that we look set to miss out on Mata, Downing, Lennon and whochever other winger we've been linked with - it looks as if we'll be relying on our full bvacks primarily for width, with a misfield that on merit would probably comprise Gerrard, Merieles and Adam (if signed) although you'd expect Kenny to replace at least one of them with a holding player - like Lucas
