The interest in Henderson and Kenny's preference for 4-4-2 has me thinking Aquilani and Meireles may be sold. The latter has been good for us in the few games we played a system that suited him (4-2-3-1), but Kenny very clearly needed a CM who could play on the right aka Steven Gerrard. Henderson is the same. Meireles had little enough room in the team this season, and he has even less now. Aqua AND Meireles sold? That wouldnt be wise, now ship one of them i reckon would be a better choice, Meireles fit perfectly into the squad, plus Aqua has sparked tons of intrest.

i wouldn't expect the club to sell raul meireles. he's a good player and played much better under kenny daglish. looked on the liverpool fc website today and he is the 5th most popular name people have on the back of their new lfc away kit. he's a good popluar player and it wouldn't be very fair to the fans if he was sold

It's just a thought. He struggles to fit into any system where we only use 2 CMs, one of whom will always be Lucas or Gerrard. I'm not saying he isn't popular, merely that, like Aquilani, he might not fit the system Kenny plans to use. Under such circumstances we'd be doing the player a disservice by keeping him. Ask Torres.

If he doesn't fit then have him as an option on the bench, Its ridiclous seeing our bench for this past season. Very weak compared to many teams in the league.

To me it´s a concern that we still haven´t addressed the real problem area, LM (or LW depending on system). OK, it´s good if we have many CM:s to choose from, but we still have 0 out left. We even have potential talent to be used on the right side - Henderson and Gerrard, but absolutely NOTHING out left!

Thus all the hubbub over Downing and especially Mata. Is it too much to pray for both so we have real depth up front for various formations? Mata we wont truly know til the European window opens next month, Downing would complement Carroll well. Mata just because he is a bad ass.

Honestly we should be playing 3 in the midfield with a rotation policy. Obviously Gerrard, Lucas, Meireles will be first choice with the others probably being Henderson, Spearing/other DM, Aqua (hopfullly) or Adam in a Barca like sense.
Henderson wasn't bought to start straight away, he's definitely a prospect to eventually take over from Gerrard.
Would like to see a 4-3-3 with high width.
