It is being reported that the Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has had his scouts watching the Japanese star Keisuke Honda ever since his brilliant performances at the World Cup in South Africa last summer, and Talksport says that Dalglish thinks that he can take him to Anfield for just £8m.
The 24 year-old usually plays in midfield for his club CSKA Moscow but was deployed in a more forward position for the Japan national team, and earned two Man-of-the-Match accollades as his country reached the quarter-finals, before being cruelly eliminated 5-4 on penalties by Paraguay.
Honda went on to prove that his performance was no fluke when he helped Japan win the Asia Cup in January this year, and he was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
Yesterday he announced that he just had to leave Russia and move to a bigger club, but with 18 months left on his contract CSKA were continually blocking him from moving on. He said: “Right now I’m in a rut still being at CSKA. This wasn’t what I planned. If I don’t accept it I can’t live my life. But if I get too used to my circumstances I’ll come to a halt.
“That scares me.”
But at just 24 years-of-age Honda has a great future in front of him. CSKA know they can’t hold on to him much longer without risking him running down his contract so will have to relent soon. If Liverpool can persuade CSKA to let him go, Honda will be a fantastic signing for Dalglish.
