i think spurs have a game in hand so it not is our hands Yet if they win their game in hand but we beat them at Anfield we stay ahead of them on goal difference, so it is in our hands. If they choose to drop more points, well, that's another matter entirely.

Maybe Pacheco can come back and get a game?! If he can't get a game at Norwich why should he deserve the chance to play in Europe for a great club like Liverpool? If we're going to use the youngsters/fringe players in Europa we should use the ones which have a chance of pushing for a place in the 1st team squad, not danny pacheco!

we're not old men. we're a club of professional sports people.
it wasnt the thur/ sunday thing that was killing us, it was the ineptitude of management and the weight of misery that cloaked the club for the last few years.
that has all been lifted now. plus noone is saying we have to win it, or stay in it that long. we can give our youths a run out in it, plus i think kenny needs more practice in europe before taking on the CL.
my point is we have something to strive for: 5th. if we get it, it will be a big boost to the club. then we simply tailor it to suit our needs next season.

I, and many supporters I'm sure, would have no problem with us going out of the group stage having fielded a side mainly of hardened veterans like Carra and Kuyt and many of the players coming through (Spearing, Flano, Robinson, Wilson, Kelly, Shelvey, maybe Suso and Sterling in the odd game). That's 6 more opportunities in the first team than those players will get next season if we hit our first team targets in the transfer window. I'm not suggesting we put the Academy XI out there, but I see no reason to fear the competition in terms of a title challenge. If we want an experienced first team it will come at the expense of player development, unless the younger players get opportunities like this.

Agree totally!!!! Thursday/sunday. Wednesday/Saturday?! Same amount of recovery time. We need to be battling in Europe at some level. Plus I'd love for us to put one over that geezer Redknapp!

If we do manage to steal 5th and mount a challange for the title next season playing Sundays gives us an advantage over the other teams playing Saturdays. It gives us the chance going into games knowing exactly what we need to do after the previous days results.

As in: "win".
