house do you agree we need a midfield playmaker? oh without a doubt, pastore would be the dream choice but we wont get him i also dont see a playmaker as only one type of player ie adam or modric id like to see a midfield like gerrard sissoko albrighton suarez mata thats what id like and thats crap so thank god u ain't getting what u like it would work brilliantly albrighton would get cross after cross into carroll and mata, suarez would have free roles so they could get on the ball as much as possible, gerrard could get forward as well with sissoko being the destroyer in midfield, protecting the back 4 its not perfect because gerrard is getting on and albrighton is very rough around the edges but its much more balanced than any midfield we could have with adam in it, maybe adam could be a squad player

adam is not a class player not even close, because he can pass people are looking at him as some alonso replacement adam is no better than lucas in every department other than passing
and can you put link up to the article where carra marvels at adam Because he can pass?! Isnt that a fundamental part of being a good footballer?

i think his passing and vision alond with setpeices is what we want currently...so how come he's not good for us...
other then that there are very few players who would want to come to anfield...so adam is a good player...

Seriously though, Gerrard is a terrible CM,
Are you serious?! That's an insult to a player that's given so much. Gerrard might not be what you want in a center mid but don't insult him by calling him terrible! Give the lad the respect he deserves. There's not a team in England that wouldn't want to have the so called "terrible cm" in their midfield. So potentially we will have Lucas, Raul, Gerrard and Adam next season? Who plays? Gerrard has no defensive discipline, and his "I need to do it all" approach means he will run with the ball or try a glory pass instead of keeping it simple. Ask anyone who actually knows anything about football and they will tell you the same (eg Fergie, any of the 8 or 9 managers SG had prior to Roy). This is why he has, for the greater part of his career, not been a CM. He's always been at his most effective when he has not needed to track back, particularly under Rafa who showed us very clearly that SG's best positions are in the hole behind the striker or as a right wing. This late in his career he now lacks both the experience and youth to be the effective CM you believe him to be, and over the last 2 seasons he's lost his 40 yard pass. This has nothing to do with how much he's given for the club, but with how good he is in the position he thinks he should play without having the correct talents for it. He's effective to a point in a 3-man midfield where he can drift forward or to the right, but he would be poor in a 2x CM 4-4-2, for eg, where there is a greater emphasis on disciplined positional play. Thus far this season he has only had one good game as a CM - the game at home vs the scum, where he was surprisingly disciplined alongside Lucas, allowing Meireles to run the show; one game does not make a season/career.

Isnt that a fundamental part of being a good footballer? so is being fit enough to work hard for 90 mins, and being able to read the game and get yourself into the right positions for the team, adam can only pass and take a good set-piece he has nothing else in his game. and sadly when we sign him you lot will realise this and wish we'd let spurs sign him as i have said before we will spend 12 million and step sideways

The reason he was so disciplined v utd was because he had an injection before the game and was carrying a couple of injurys

This is why i created the thread as there seems to be a lot views on if he's capable to play this role. Plus this is suppose to be a transfer thread!

You get other players in the team to do the donkey work. Mascherano couldnt pass water but what made him an important player was his tackling and work rate. Put him in the middle with somebody like Adam and they'd compliement each other.
