Fazakerley red - I agree with every word I could not have put it better. THAT's the issue why this club is where it is. And you know what ? we deserve to be where we are!

personally and i may be wrong but look at the number of games that was lost in the 1989-1990 compared to the ones before? since then the only season where weve even come close to man utd was in 2009, part complacency, part not good enough

was kozma better than hansen? no
was nicky tanner good enough? no
was paul stewart, mike marsh and mike hooper good enough? no
don hutchison? no

1992-93 sewed our seeds for a generation

We are were we are, and every club has its hayday and then someone else takes over, but its swings and roundabouts! manu are and have been on the roundabout, were on the swings but its taken ferguson his whole career to catch us,soon hell retire and we will have our turn on the roundabout,we have been in the wilderness for 20 years but hopefully it wont be another 20 years for us to win it again, by then ferguson will be a statue and all those lost years will forgotten i dont care if they win it this year, they keep saying weve never won the premier league but at the same time they havnt really won 18 titals cos id say half or more were leagues and half were premier leagues it was harder in the day to win a league tital without much money than it is today with money to buy good players, they cant have it both ways! if you get what i mean crazy smile

can`t wait for this season to be over, realistically I don`t want them to win it but even if they do what difference will it make.? we have been subject of their abuse for ever and it will continue no matter what.
The top teams have all been below par this year and Utd have been just good (or lucky) enough to be clear at the top. If your there you deserve it, end of.

The table doesn't lie. United have been poor, but less so than the rest. The Gunners can still win it outright if they win 8 of 8, but we expect the Spanish Inquisition more than that.

I don't care if they win no. 19. I will care if we don't win no. 19.

Aaah, I misread the table - thought the Gunners were 5 back with the game in hand, but I see it's actually 7. Yeah - that's looking like mission impossible now. The Gunners are so sh!t at the back they'll do well to win 5, never mind 8.

I'm assuming that those "I hope they win it" comments were tongue-in -cheek! If not, how can any LFC fan justify wanting Utd to win the league and take our record?!?!
The record itself doesn't really bother me that much as it's ancient history, and we rightfully get mocked for bringing it up when half our fan base weren't even alive when we last won the league!
Does anyone seriously think that we'll be much better just because Man Utd have overtaken us?? Jeebus!

Although it's not particularly exciting at the top OR bottom of the league this year, it must be the closest year yet. Whether that's because the top clubs have under-performed or the gap has closed between what used to be considered the good and bad clubs I don't know. But mathematically speaking, anyone from Tottenham down can still get relegated and there's only 7 games left!!

Doesnt matter whather they overtake us or not Carh. Fact is they already equallled our record of 18 and thats already an achievement considering they had like 7 or 8 20 years ago.

That's exactly the point. Fergie's won 11 titles, all of them after we'd got to 18. Athough it is important that we as a club retain the identity that we are the most successful club in England (and especially given that United could overtake us in terms of total silverware won as well if they win the treble [I think - not 100% on this]), quite honestly the only way to defend such an honour is to keep winning it rather than letting other clubs stop United in our stead.

While I'm not keen on the idea of my manc mates reminding me they have more titles every time I see them, being second will give us something to aim for again. No longer will we be able to say with pride that we're the most successful club in England while languishing in the Europa League (or lower!). The important thing is that we have to learn from Fergie's example: you don't become the most successful club by being a flash in the pan (what some fans want from LFC as a knee-jerk reaction to being knocked off our perch), you do it by getting to the top and then staying there for decades.
