Seriously though, technically there's nothing wrong with what he said. We do have a lot of deadwood, and that was bought by Rafa (and added to by Hodgson). Of course, I disagree that Rafa bought most of them because they were "his type of player", but that's probably just semantics.
"Willing to work hard for the team and in particular for LFC" is all Kenny wants right now, provided the guy has more than a minimum level of fitness and skill. Kenny will buy reliable players, perhaps no one too flashy (that depends on the budget constraints and EL qualification), but he will look for guys who can pass it and are lively on the pitch. While that doesn't describe every player out there, I think it's sufficiently broad that he and Commolli could have a great deal of choice of how to spend the transfer budget.
