Reading this Makes me Nervous, I was away all last week and when I got back some of my mates (who follow the scum) where saying the utd had a bid accepted for somewhere in the region of 70 to 80 million for Torres and that the Yanks wanted to take it!!!! But the double edge to it was Rafa was naturally going to walk, but Torres said he was going nowhere while Rafa was the boss. Seemingly that's what Rafa's statement about staying for the fans and players was all about. I laughed it off until reading this post. I do think the yanks have to sell but i just hope they don't kill the club on the way down. Hicks especially is up beyond his neck in it

united will not make a bid for torres again unless the player indicated interest as they were knocked back again and again in attempts to sign him before he joined us - they know he has absolutely no interest whatsoever in joining them no matter what

plus i am not sure they are in a financial position to offer that kind of money for anyone at the moment - they seem to be in the same boat as us right now ...... or maybe they are holding back the money for when slur alex leaves???

The Yanks treat players as objects, whenever they want to sell someone for money they will do it. They are businessmen not SPORTSMEN

It is no secret that the drunken Al loves Torres, Long before we signed him he tried several times to get him. Yes utd's deaths are bigger but they don't have to build a new stadium and there owners are not in the press week in week out (stateside) for being in so much financial trouble. I just would put nothing pass them. I think we are Lucky at the min to have a manager in Rafa that (OK some people might not like his style on the pitch) has principles. If there was someone weaker at the helm god only knows where the club would go

Given the extent to which the funds are being witheld from Benitez, it's going to take less than a couple of years for us to drop out of CL contention.

We are unlikely to make any new transfers, apparently, and if you compare our midfiled with that of Tottenham, for example, you'd be hard pressed to find in favour of our best four.

Tottenham - Lennon, Huddlestone, Palacios, Modric

LFC - Kuyt (no Lennon) Masch, Lucas, Babble or Riera

Even in the forwards we only really have Torres and SG as proven with no proven cover.

If we finish third or even fourth, keep the squad together and get a new owner with some proper money, by next year, I'll be ecstatic.

Most of the top five, including Man City. simply have better players than us and we have no real cover if Torres or SG get injured. The fitness of Torres and SG will be pivotal to any success and no other team with pretentions to win the PL depends so hevaily on just two players.

whats the use if RAFA makes a profit on Dossena/Babel/Licas only for the owners to hold the profits back? same thing they did with alonso.

I wouldnt get negative, lets just take each game as it comes, one game at a time.

Am I glad you're in here talking reason and sense Joe, or I'd have slashed me wrists by now.

We can argue and moan and groan about how he shouild have done this, he should have done that, all day and night long, but it won't make an iota of difference what we say.
Benitez is the manager, the two double burger faced yanky doodle tossers own the place, and we mere mortals are just going to have to sit back and watch what happens.
You can rant and rave 'til your blue in the face, drive yourself demented, give yerself an 'eart attack, but no one in authority at LFC will care one jot or even listen.
Sad but true, so let's just watch and wait to see what happens ey? wink

yes, thos yanks might be apes, but they bought the club legally, financed legally and have done everything according to bsiness laws, although it might be against our wishes, but none of us has the power/money/gut nor the balls to change it.

I'm sure everybody on here would have the guts to change it if they had the money. It's the money that matters and few people on the planet have enough money to buy a PL club and see it succeed.

As to whether we should just sit back as we have no choice, well what's the point of these forums?

Without people that waste their lives worrying about football teams the PL wouldn't exist and I would imagine that those that
do business would be quite well aware of this. At the end of the day, it strikes me that the more fans that want rid of H and G, the more likely they are to sell and move on to something more promising.

these forumns have been around long before Hicks and Gillet.

I dont think its that simple, 12 million people wanted rid of Mugabe in ZImbabwe, he didnt go, at the end, the people suffer.

You can shout all you like, you can march all you like, you can try and put the Yanks under as much pressure as you wish, if they dont want to sell or leave there is nothing anybody can do. They own the club, its THEIR CLUB. if you dont like it, tough luck.Moores and Parry didnt like it, where are they today???

The Mancs had fans who objected to the Glazers, where are those ans today? The Mancs still survived.

Unless you got some links to the Mafia, you could try a hit on the Yanks, beyond that i cant see any legal avenue.

Maybe if tony blair or Brown got invovled on a high profile level someone could push the yanks hand. But if the yanks choose, they could spite you and all fans by doing things to prove to you and all fans WE ARE THE BOSSES, WE OWN THIS CLUB.

The only way i think you will make a impact iis if all fans boycott the games. but is that a viable option? do you see it succeed?
