The obvious problem with the diamond though is that Carroll's primary strength is in the air, and to exploit that you need to bring the ball in from wide areas. The diamond concentrates on keeping the ball on the deck and through the middle. Were Torres and Suarez partners I would agree, but they are not.

With the issues surrounding Gerrard and Meireles together in midfield, I suspect the diamond will only enhance our weaknesses without exploiting our strengths. I feel that 4-3-3 suits us far better:

Otherwise toy with Pacheco, Suso, or Shelvey in midfield while pushing Gerrard forward in place of Turan. Gerrard simply isn't good enough to play nearer our final third than that of the opponent, and frankly unless he becomes more consistent over the remainder of the season he is the first player I would drop from that 11.

we need a couple of top players if we can get a couple of good players on the cheap i.e taiwo, maraeuxthen brilliant but i don't think we can get all the players we need at the quality we need them so i'd sign

Keep Cole Clarke will get the best out of him. We need another CB, LB, RW, LW and maybe cover for Gerrard Adam or Aqua

Is Marveaux confirmed as a summer signing? Been a lot of talk; signed agreement to join would be good.

N'Zogbia can be a very good signing, can practically cover for anyone on the pitch except for the central defenders

please god please people stop mentioning N'Zogbia, I was looking forward to the summer transfer window until you mentioned his name again.

What do people think of that N'Zogbia lad?,seems a decent player.

yea i think he's quite good. would definitely offer us a lot more than the current "wingers" in the squad.

i'll second that. he's played out of position because lets face it he's never going to oust gerrard or meireles. imo he's done a good job too (mostly notably this season).
