Take away his history with west ham, chelsea and england, we signed him on a free, for liverpool he has been as bad as nunez, gonzarlez, kronghamp, Jova. Why do we get continue to sign these players.

I hope the lad can turn it around but i can see him going in the summer.

Surely one of our youth team players who play on the wing are better than him.

I agree we have been guilty of buying on reputation, needed to buy players who are hungry last thing we needed at the time was a player who is not confident like say suarez and i hope andy carrol both confident players

We need winners, like you state with carroll and suarez hopefully they will help.

I totally trust kenny with the squad he picks purely for the fact this guy has liverpool blood running through him and knows how to win titles. I just hope we can get another 3 quality players in as last 20 years, our problem is only having two quality attacking players at the same time i.e mcmanaman and fowler, stevie and owen, stevie and torres.

Our defensive record has been one of if not at times the strongest in the league so we fall short on scoring goals.

Joe Cole will prob be sold in the summer , no loss really ,never rated him as highly as the media seem to.We took a chance albeit a small one on a free transfer and it didn`t work out. There`s better, younger and hungier players out there, lets hope we get one.

he will probably go back to west ham, best place for him, like you say worth the gamble as was a free transfer but didn't work.

He was free but his wages were still pretty high for a guy who has been injured and down on form since his arrival. I think getting sent off in his first game with us may have messed with his head a bit!! If we sell him in the summer, hopefully we make up our wage payments that we've made to him!

Totally agree. He's had more injuries that Aquilani! And that's saying something! I hope Kenny gives him time on the pitch tomorrow.

you can't really say "why do we sign these players" cos joe cole isn't in the same category as voronin and jovanovic imo

losing benayoun for £6m and signing cole on a free looked like a quality bit of business at the start of the season. there were a lot of teams after his signature and for him to choose us over the likes of arsenal and spurs really captured the imagination of all us fans.

don't care what anyone says or how high his wages are... joe cole on a free is a good signing for any club in the league. time will tell with joe, i personally think he will be far from happy at being on the bench. the whole reason he came here was so he could get a game so he must be frustrated.

if he can pick up a few starts in the europa league it could do wonders for his fitness and confidence. he will add a bit more quality to the bench in league games and when fit would hopefully challenge maxi for a place in the side.

theres still time for him to show what he can do before the season ends. the good thing is he wants to be here and wants to play and do well for this club.

We may see a different Cole under a manager who'll actually allow him to go out and play with some freedom.
