A lot has happened in the last few days and most of us fans have been through a roller coast ride of emotions. I'm just trying to keep things real and have a balanced perspective of the chain of events.
Torres
The truth has to be said. He was our idol. He was one of us. We felt his pain and jumped up and down like crazy monkeys when he scored. He was probably the best striker we had for the last 20 years. And boy he could do it all.
I was a fan of his as well. But the way he has conducted himself over the last 10 days or so leaves much to be desired. His timing to hand in transfer request could not have been more untimely. But i dont blame. Good players come and go and what this has taught me is that these guys only look out for themselves. While being highly paid is one of the perks of being a professional footie player, trophies do make a career a lot sweeter when you retire. Thats the reality of it and the sooner we come to realise this, the better we can cope with his departure.
I thank you for the memories and the goals you smashed in but when you put on a shirt that's aint Red, you can be sure i'm supporting the guys on the other side no matter how good or bad they are. Expect us to do you no favors come Sunday or any other day.
Carroll
Yes we all feel that the fee is OTT but to put things into perspective, we may have uncovered a real gem of a player. English players are known to command a premium fee and if you throw in the fact that he just signed a new 5 year deal and the January window, it would have to be a real good fee for him to join us.
What comforts me the most is that I think Dalglish will polish him and make him a better all round player. He is only 22 and in 3 years time when Torres is slowing down, Andy will be wrecking havoc in every ground in England and he will only get better.
when you think about things in perspective, i feel slightly better than i did a few days ago. Our net spending is less than 10 million which leaves us funds for the summer where if we can add in a few good players, i believe we are ready to make a proper assault for 2nd or 3rd place.
We should always remember that players come and go and that we should not hold it against them. They are humans too with feelings. what is more important is we support the ones that want to be here and make their mark, those that dont just kiss the badge but conduct themselves worthy of legend status, those that have the club at heart like Kenny.
Lets get behind the team for the remainder of the season and see what they can do. We are slowly making progress in the right direction although all of us wish it could be alot faster.
