Agreed, if man city get in on the bidding we are gonna get quite a bit more. Tbh I'd rather see him go to city than the chavs!

There is another factor in that though. Don't the new financial fair play rules come into effect in the summer? Clubs have to break even over three years or they're excluded from European football?

That means certain clubs that are bankrolled externally, rather than spending self-generated money, won't be able to bid mad prices on players then.

Those certain less profitable clubs might, of course, be desperate to spend money now as a result, especially if they had aging players they needed to replace. Sound familiar?

The upshot of that is that Chelsea are probably desperate to buy now. We, on the other hand, could sell Torres in summer - there are other profitable clubs that would no doubt be interested - but we might not get as much as we can from a panicking Chelsea. If it's all about the money, selling now may have something to be said for it.

But then, it's not all about the money, is it.

What is the point of keeping him?

He has made it clear he doesn't want to be here despite the fact we have owners willing to invest, a damn good manager who has already brought about changes on the pitch, good first team coaches and the best fan base in the world.

He has spent the best part of the last 12 months strolling about the pitch, moaning and sulking and not trying.

If we turn down the transfer request he will no doubt do the same again because he has no concept of the meaning of the world loyalty.

Get shut of him but make sure get a decent price - at least £50m and a decent player thrown in for good measure.

Have the contract drawn up banning him from playing against us in the rest of this season.

If he doesn't know how great the club is and how proud he should be to be here, if he hasn't got loyalty towards Kenny and the rest of the team or any worry that handing in a transfer request 3 days from the end of the window might leave us in the mire, the I don't want him here.

how about he put in the request just to push them to wrap up transfers.....seems a bit childish but who knows

We should hold onto him until summer because if he goes - we are ONCE AGAIN left with one decent striker! ...And Ngog! lol.. The [oops] has left us with no time to find a replacement - so it'd be a terrible move to sell him in this window imo
