If he doesn't want to stay why keep him.
He has submitted a written transfer request so it's his decision to leave.

Personally I'd scour the world for another buyer and sell him out of the country, for less than Chelsea offered if needs be. Do Barca, Real, Bayern or any of the Italian clubs have that much money?

Unbelievably let down.

Thing is, this still doesn't make any sense to me. Or maybe it does.

This was Torres a couple of weeks ago:

http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/n...02039-22835161/

“My head is in Liverpool and on helping to save our season. I am a professional and I always fulfil my deals."

And now he's handing in a written transfer request?

I can't think what's happened. Except, thinking about it, that's not true, maybe I can.

There are two other things he said in that interview. "We need to add more points, win matches and improve our standing in the table. That is our challenge and I demand the total help of our supporters in doing that." and “I haven’t considered leaving, although in football that always depends on the club."

So there's the club... but we don't appear to want to sell. The journos seem to agree LFC's statement is pretty solid. Request denied.

So then there's the supporters... and the reason that bothers me is that in the crowd against Fulham just the other night, there were a fair few voices around me not supporting, abusing Torres (and others) for not pointlessly chasing after the ball all the time. It seemed that if Torres wasn't playing piggy-in-the-middle with the opposition's defense all the time, they were going to have a go at him. That's been a recurring theme in here all season: "Torres doesn't look bothered", "Torres is sulking", etc., etc.

Now I don't know how much of that Torres hears down on the pitch. But if it's his perception that the fans don't want him, or don't appreciate him, and combine that with bad advice from his advisors (who no doubt would be influenced by the prospect of a big pay day), and I can begin to see why this might happen.

some comments make me laugh

if we sold him now we would not be able to use that money till the summer. If Chelsea had done this at the beginning of January it would be different.

yes get 50-60 million in but we have no time to spend it, it tkaes days to sort out transfers and there isn't the time left to do this.

if he wants to go let him go in the summer when we can have a bidding war and he goes for the highest price. then we can rebuild our squad .

ya know what, IF this is true, unless we get 60 mil for him, let him rot on the bench and bring him on with 30 seconds to go in each game so we can booo him.

Luis Garcia, He drinks sangria
He came from Barca, to bring us Joy
He's five foot seven, he's football heaven
please don't take my Luis away.

Loves the club, loves the fans....MY ARSE you do.
Never bloody did imo, but there again, none of them give a flying f*** about us. Never have, never will. Only in it for the glory and the money.

But with Chelsea there is one option that might work for us - Cash and Anelka. It would not suprise me to see this happen
