Partly right, there is also the social construct. Having a female ref is a no-go for the reasons I've already covered. Would you like to see a woman being sworn at and berated on a football pitch by enraged hulking men? I know I wouldn't. They have 'womens' football, they are better off there officiating the other women whom they can handle better, not just physically but on a more level social plane.

I dont think anyone would complain about female refs aslong as they are up to the job,they would know what to expect so if they were good enough,why not?

i cant see any problem with it fowls, she can simply send them off, and like someone said earlier, it might make players think twice about it.
its liked mixed schools, it has a better social influence than single sex schools. when you are around both genders in what you do, it makes you a more complete person.

That leads to another question why should a woman or a man have to put up with screaming players not accepting decisions. Look at rugby with men who could punch the lights out of the average prem soccer play accepting the ref's decisions with none of the petulant stuff from Rooney et al. Also in rugby the captains only speak to the ref. Also not all women are shrinking voilets believe you me.

That's a very Naïve veiwpoint of our society who are very sensitive towards the man vs woman debate. I'm sure a woman could make the right decisions and if fit enough could keep up with play, but handling monsters like Rooney and others is another matter. No doubt the media would have a field day putting a woman in a position like that. Can't see it ever happening, or working. The social sensitivity aspect would overrule it.

what do you think is going to happen, rooney is going to punch her and she'll start crying? i cant see any reason why it wont happen. in fact i think if the fa said no society would have a field day with THAT.

Well the saying goes: Football is a gentlemans game played by thugs, Rugby is a thugs game played by gentlemen.

Like i said,if they were up to the job and could handle a bit of stick,there is no reason why certain women couldn't do it.

half our male refs are practically women anyway.
