If he is then Im sure arsenal will offer 300,000,001 in the summer grin

He is as he is rare as a great CB, even if you have 300 million, you cannot buy him as there is no VVD alternative. If we win PL he is priceless ad he has helped sort our defence.

A player is worth what any/some club will pay for him. Will any/some club pay 300,000000 for a central defender? Maybe but I doubt it. The question for us is: would FSG bite the hand, arm and shoulder off the first to offer it? Or would they gobble them whole and entire? Would they F**k?

For 300m FSG will drive him themselves, they started with Torres then Suarez and lately Coutinho. To be fair though, all 3 wanted to leave because they didn't feel they will win much staying

As good as VVD is, if a club came in offering 300 mill, I'd sell. We could get a world class replacement for 100 mill and have 200 mill change to pay for mbappe.

But why would Mbappe sign if we sold our best player? In any case we will never pay Mbape the wages he wants

So who would you get for 100 million to replace him? the reason he might be worth 300 million is that there are no players anywhere near his quality at CB ATM.

The difference is we can now pay VvD the money and he can win trophies with us, we were a mess of a club when Torres/Suarez wanted to leave and I cannot really blame them.

VvD waited 12 months to join us after our messup on the approach to Southampton, he believed in Klopp when he could have moved to lots of other clubs if he wanted, including City, probably earning more money, but he wanted to join Klopp.

Without Allison's and VVD's mentality we are a wreck in defence.

Just look at what happens when Klopp is playing Lovren! Imagine having him next to Matip or Gomez every week. No surprise we were leaking goals left, right and center before VVD arrived. Allison has then made us even more solid.

When we finally sell VVD, he needs to be replaced by a similar character, who instantly can step in and be the leader at the back - just as VVD did when he arrived nearly 2 years ago.

Our fortunes changed drastically after our record spending last year. Yes we cannot do that every season but you cannot win titles without top players and a top manager.

No that's a fact.

It will be as hard to replace Klopp as any of the other 2 just mentioned.

But we will have to, should they/when they depart. That's the difference between lingering around top 6 and challenging for the title and winning trophies (PL and CL) imo.

Agree and I will add that we shouldn't stop buying quality even if they don't leave

I agree, we have seen what an injection of quality can do, for too long we purchased mid-price players to maintain a top 4 challenge, if we want to win trophies, we need to buy quality in key positions when required.

We have also bought really well from relegated teams, the likes of Robertson, Wij & Shaq, so you do not have to spend 100 million on each player.

In 5 years or so, sign De Light or someone similar. No reason for him to go now.

To be able to sign de Ligt we will need to have another record sale or new owners

And will Juve sell De Ligt? you need to get these players before they move to the top European clubs, like we did with VvD, Mane & Salah.

They might for a record fee but we don't pay that kind of money unless we sell at a record fee or have new owners. Highly unlikely though.

We rarely buy from the top European teams, usually it's from the second tier teams like Roma etc, as we will not pay the money needed to prise them away from the top clubs like a RM would, if we wanted De Ligt, we needed to sign him in the summer from Ajax, unless he fails at Juve, then we might be able to pick him up in a few years, but the fans will then complain we are signing a failed player who couldn't make it at a big club!
