Ian Wright on Darwin Nunez: “Can you imagine if Nunez could score consistently?

"That’s a lot of money to play for a squad player. I see Jota as the main man; [Nunez] is an impact player, and that’s a lot of money for an impact player.

“I’ve seen enough of him now. I thought at some stage it would click for him, but it’s not clicked in for him. If it clicked in for him then Liverpool are definitely easily favourites. Easily one of the favourites, Liverpool with a firing Darwin Nunez. I’m telling you, it’s a massive problem.”

The team don't supply our central forward like most BPL sides with enough ammunition. Jota is the main man because of his poaching and goal hanging abilities I suspect.

We all saw against Newcastle last season that Nunez is a great finisher, in the Carroll mould, but Ian Wright is right in saying he's more of an impactful player. Darwin is as good as Kane, perhaps slightly less good.

Liverpool's style of play suiting wide AM's (even then Salah wasn't firing last season) is what the club has progressed with, meaning Klopp never found the right player in Darwin (although we finished 3rd last season).

Nunez can't adapt his game unless the team get nearer to him with the ball, hence I mention Harry Kane who comes deep occasionally for England. Our central midfield should aim to put more crosses in for him to use his strength that's why it hasn't clicked in my opinion. Even Fernando Torres had more of a chance to run at players. Diaz and Salah are for themselves as wing forwards are, but unless Liverpool play samba football I can't see Nunez fitting in with those wider attackers making simpler assists.
