Does it matter about wages and keeping the players we have? We have a top class defence, very good midfielders and amazing if not slightly dimming attack force. I'm quite pleased that our top players are starting to stick around rather than going to Madrid/Barca every season.
Could do with something up front though. All the top 4-6 clubs are keeping their main players including Spurs, so it's not like we are doing miracles there. I can't believe Origi is still around, why??? No one wanted Origi, we cannot sell if no one bids, we also gave Origi a new contract 2 years ago, probably on very high wages that lower PL/Championship/Foreign clubs cannot afford, and he will not want to take the drop in pay. This contract was pre-Covid and was probably given to keep his value, doesn't look a good move now.

we have been really prudent (to put it nicely) on the transfer front for the last 2-3 windows. i cling to the last straws of hope that all this is geared towards a big push to bring in someone like Haaland for next season. My big worry on this is that next year we will need a big rebuild, we have quite a few key players at their/going past their best in their 30's, so we may need to bring in 5 or 6 new players, so parachuting them in will cause major disruption for the team, forgetting how much that will all cost and the problem is we will have moving on the players they will be replacing. We would be much better bringing in 1-2 new players a season, they can then get games and used to our system for when they are ready, like we did with Robertson etc. We also have the issue that many leagues like France, Spain & Italy are struggling at the moment, so there are bargains there to be had, a player we could have picked up for £20-30 million this season like Neuhaus/Saul, but next season when the market has picked up and Covid has less impact with full stadiums, their price will probably go back to £50 million as clubs will not be as desperate for income, look at the deals Barca were doing this summer, I think we have missed a chance to re-enforce for the future.

Injury, what injury, our players are never injured

I hope that Sturridge suggestion is a joke KP or your suffering from short term memory loss and have forgotten how hard it was to get rid of him? Honestly if we could get origi sold at this stage I would let him go just to get rid of him. I’m sure Gordon could do as good a job as him if the worst comes to it. Or I still have a pair of boots lying around here somewhere….

Strange timing, makes you wonder if FSG told Fernerbache to hold off bidding until our buying window had closed, as they knew the fans would be demanding a replacement buy if we sold Origi before the window closed.

IMO, FSG don't care about fans that much until there is a threat that people won't come to tge stadium or anti FSG rallies will be held etc, that is, until there is a huge back lash, they just don't care. For them it's just a business and the target is to qualify for CL without any investment (capital injection)

I really don't understand why we have such an unwillingness to spend. We are no longer saturated in midfield after selling Wiji and Shaq, and we have limited options upfront.
We also have an injury-prone squad, how many times do Keita and Ox have to get injured for us to realise they are sicknote players?
Now if we let Origi go, that cuts our forward line even further, especially when Mane and Salah go to AFCON.
Nobody is asking for big-name signings, we could have gone under the radar and bought Saul in midfield, and a forward like Isak.
