This is Oxlade-Chamberlain’s first senior competitive start for The Reds since his serious knee injury against Roma in April 2018, 477 days ago.

Naby Keita suffered a muscle strain (hip area) and is ruled out tonight. He will be assessed again ahead of this weekend’s trip to Southampton.

The draw for the second round of the League Cup took place last night. 13 Premier League clubs enter the competition at the next stage of the competition but clubs who are involved in European competitions are given a bye to the next round.

Naby Keita is set to be assessed this morning ahead of this evening’s Super Cup game against Chelsea. The Liverpool midfielder was withdrawn from last night’s training session with what appeared to be a muscle problem but as yet there has been no further update. As soon as we are provided with an update we will let you know.
