Former Liverpool winger Suso has again been linked with a possible return to the Premier League. Reports originating from Italy claim that Suso, who turns 26 next month, would be allowed to leave AC Milan during the January transfer window if someone steps up with a suitable offer.

It is claimed that the Italian giants are growing impatient with his dips in form and it would appear that the Milan fans would support a sale. His name was met with boos when he was announced as being in the starting line-up at the weekend ahead of Milan’s 2-2 draw against Lecce and the hashtag ‘#SusoOut’ also began trending in Italy after another disappointing performance for the Spaniard.

The Rossoneri (The Red & Blacks, in Italian) are also under pressure to make a significant sale in January in order to meet FFP regulations which makes the former Liverpool player an ideal candidate for a sale.

Tottenham have previously made moves to recruit Suso (January 2019) while Manchester City have been linked recently (September 2019). Fiorentina, Roma, Sevilla and Lyon are long term admirers while Premier League clubs Wolves and West Ham have made some noises recently. It is The Hammers who are believed to have shown the most interest of late. It is claimed that they would be willing to table an offer in January if they can negotiate down the player’s £32.7million release clause. Suso’s current form and Milan’s willingness to sell should help in that regard.

Suso joined the Liverpool Academy in 2010. He went on to sign his professional contract with the Reds when he turned 17 in November of that year. He signed a new long-term contract under Brendan Rodgers’ in October 2012 as a result of his impressive performances for the reserves. Sadly he failed to be handed a proper chance in the first team, much to the disappointment of the Anfield faithful who constantly called for his inclusion.

He was eventually loaned to Spanish outfit Almeria on a season-long loan in July 2013. He returned to Liverpool in 2014 and agreed a deal that would see him sign for AC Milan in July 2015 when his contract expired. However, Liverpool terminated his contract in January 2015 to enable him to complete the transfer sooner. Liverpool were subsequently paid £1.3million in compensation by the Italians.

A change in manager during the 2015-16 season saw Suso’s opportunities limited so he was sent out on loan to Genoa in January 2016. Another change in manager saw him handed a fresh chance for the 2016–17 season in which he scored 7 goals and provided 9 assists which resulted in him finishing the season as Milan’s highest provider.

Suso signed a contract extension in 2017 which runs until 2022. However, based on the current mood, it’s unlikely that he will see that out.
