Stan Collymore calls out Didi Hamann and Danny Murphy

Stan Collymore has called out Didi Hamann and Danny Murphy about their relationship with talkSPORT following News Corp’s acquisition of the Wireless Group.

Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation, the parent company of The Sun and The Times, struck a £220m deal to buy Wireless Group in June. The likes of talkSPORT and Virgin Radio were included in the deal.

Collymore left talkSPORT in the summer after they withdrew a contract offer that hadn’t been inked by the former Liverpool striker. He’s currently in the process of relaunching his Call Collymore show as a lone wolf, completely independent of the media giants.

Liverpool fan Colin Murray resigned from talkSPORT when News Corp swooped, but unlike Collymore, it is claimed that a contract offer was still on the table for him but he chose to leave citing his position had been made “unsustainable”. He insisted that a possible working relationship with The Sun was a decisive factor in his decision.

Didi Hamann Danny MurphyDidi Hamann and Danny Murphy continue to contribute to the station along with Micky Quinn and a number of Liverpool-supporting journalists and according to Collymore, they all have some questions to answer.

Earlier today, the 45-year-old tweeted that he would be asking why anyone with connections to Liverpool Football Club was still involved with his former employers.

Asked which former Liverpool players were contributors at the station and Collymore pointed out that popular Reds’ duo Didi Hamann and Danny Murphy were.

Although The Sun newspaper hasn’t purchased talkSPORT, Collymore appeared to tap into emotions by suggesting such. Some fans were quick to say he had no right to question someone’s employment adding that he was merely stirring things up because he had been released by the station. Other fans admired his criticism of The Sun but it was also pointed out that News Corp were behind various publications and broadcasters including The Times and Sky Television who employ former Reds such as Jamie Carragher, Jamie Redknapp and Graeme Souness.

Collymore responded by saying that he has “no problem with Sky, Fox, Harper Collins etc etc” as  “they didn’t sanction 27 years of hurt for 96 families” where as the “S** did”.

What’s your views on this? It’s an emotional subject of course but is Stan right? Do you have a problem with current and former LFC staff and Liverpool-supporting journalists appearing on talkSPORT, Sky Sports and writing for publications such as The Times?
