Liverpool have been handed an injury boost with the news that Xherdan Shaqiri has returned to training.
The 28-year-old Swiss international has been absent with a calf injury with doubts over when he would be available for selection again.
His last appearance for the Reds was as a late substitute in the Champions League against Napoli in September but the good news is that he’s trained at Melwood today and was involved in a contact session with his team-mates.
Although he hasn’t seen much action even when fit, is it widely accepted that he will be involved over the coming months with his manager having made it perfectly clear that he will be needed and that he will get his chance. Once presented with it, it is up to him to make a positive impact to remain in the manager’s plans.
Meanwhile, Mo Salah and Andy Robertson remain major doubts for Saturday’s game away to Crystal Palace. They are continuing with their rehabilitation at Melwood on their respective ankle injuries.
Joe Gomez (knee) is winning his battle to be fit for the Premier League clash although he didn’t train fully today.
Jordan Henderson is said to be feeling much better following his illness.
