Real Betis have made a dig at Liverpool after completing the £17.7million signing of Nabil Fekir from Lyon.
The 26-year-old attacking midfielder has finally brought the speculation surrounding his future to a close after inking a 4-year contract with the Spanish outfit. His brother Yassin also makes the switch from Lyon to Betis as part of the deal.
On announcing the singing, Real Betis posted an image of Fekir saying: ‘In perfect medical condition’ in response to Liverpool’s decision to pull the plug on a proposed £50million deal last year due to concerns about a previous knee injury.
It had been claimed that Liverpool maintained their interest in Fekir and that they were willing to pay up to £15million for him this summer. However, there was no interest expressed in his brother from Anfield.
Napoli tried to hijack Fekir’s move to Spain but failed with their late approach.
As much as it’s disappointing that Liverpool missed out on Fekir, we can at least finally put this one to bed.
