Neymar and Suarez want Coutinho at Barcelona

Philippe Coutinho has made the front pages of the Spanish press again today. This time the reports touch on how the Barcelona dressing room want to see the player recruited in the summer.

It is claimed that Coutinho’s close friend Neymar along with former Liverpool ace Luis Suarez are pushing for the player to be recruited by Nou Camp officials.

Liverpool insist that the player is not for sale and that his contract is tight enough to prevent Barcelona from taking him on the cheap. The Catalan giants are interested in the Brazilian but are making it known that they are not prepared to break the bank to land him.

Earlier this week the Spanish media reported that Coutinho had told Barcelona officials via his agent that he would agree to a transfer in the summer if a deal could be brokered with Liverpool. However, a £76million valuation is too high for Barca so the suggestions are that the player would have to try and force Liverpool to lower the asking price to make something happen.

Spanish publication ‘Sport’ write: ‘The staff of Barcelona believes that the Brazilian would improve the team and adapt easily.

‘The most important thing is that Coutinho already knows, for a long time, that Barca are very interested in their services.

‘No one would be happier than Suarez if Coutinho finally got dressed in Barca.’

Back at Anfield and Jürgen Klopp insists that Coutinho is not for sale.

“When did he sign his new contract? There are absolutely no plans [to sell the player],” said the Liverpool manager.

“What our owners say is there is the absolute opportunity not to sell anybody if we do not want to. That means we can bring in other players and it is a good situation.

“We have a stable squad with a good basis.

“We want to bring a few in with fresh blood, but nobody will leave us without our say so I am completely relaxed about this.”

Klopp also joked that the player had a £400million clause in his contract when discussing Barcelona’s reported interest.

CarMeanwhile, Coutinho’s £60,000 Porsche was vandalised at Anfield while he was attending Liverpool’s end of season awards on Tuesday.

It is claimed that a man threw a rock at the car before running away.

Police attended the scene and are apparently ‘investigating’ the incident.
