Newcastle United have reportedly enquired about the availability of Liverpool duo Divock Origi and Dominic Solanke.
Toon boss Rafa Benitez desperately needs to strengthen his struggling squad who are still without a win this season and sit second from bottom of the Premier League.
Both Origi and Solanke have so far failed to make a positive impact at Anfield and both strikers have been attracting interest from European sides, although nobody as yet appears willing to splash the cash on either of them.
Origi (23) looks the most likely to leave Anfield having been with the Reds since 2015. He was actually signed in 2014 from French outfit Lille before being loaned back to them for a year. Solanke (21) was recruited in 2017 and although he too hasn’t exactly set the world on fire when given a chance, he’s a couple of years younger than Origi and he’s English. Still, if a decent cash offer came in for him, we wouldn’t rule out Liverpool giving it some consideration.
The most sensible option for Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp would be to cash in Origi if possible and persevere with Solanke by loaning him out.
