Naby Keïta says he’s trying to learn English as quickly as he can so that he can communicate properly with his team-mates and the manager.
The 23-year-old Guinean completed his transfer to Liverpool from RB Leipzig in the summer and is determined to fast track his integration into the squad. He’s even gone as far as setting himself a six month deadline to be able to speak to the media in English although he admits it may take a little longer to be able to understand the local natives.
Keïta said: “I am following a course, I am really motivated to speak English, it is really important for me.
“I want to be able to speak to the coach, I want to speak to the other players on the team and I am really working hard.
“I am hoping in six months I will be able to do these interviews in English.
“I find the Scouse accent a bit difficult but I will try my best. I do not know any Scouse, I have been trying to speak English I have not been able to learn any Scouse yet.”
The Liverpool midfielder is currently nursing a hamstring strain which he sustained on international duty with Guinea.
