Mohamed Salah will not fast for Ramadan ahead of the final

Liverpool physio Rubén Pons says Mohamed Salah will not fast for Ramadan today or tomorrow due to the Champions League final.

There have been a number of conflicting reports over the coming weeks as to whether the fasting could affect his performance but supporters will be pleased to now have an official comment in relation to the situation.

Pons said: “We were in Marbella and the nutritionist established a work plan.

“Tomorrow and the day of the match he won’t [fast], so it’s not going to affect him.”

Followers of the Islamic faith, which also include Salah’s team-mates Sadio Mané and Emre Can, can be excused from fasting when travelling.

The fast breaks at 8.52pm in Kiev on Saturday. Kick off is at 9.45pm local time. That’s plenty of time to squeeze a KFC in before the game gets underway!
