Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Götze (26) will make a decision about his future over the coming weeks. The Germany international has a year remaining on his contract but it sounds like he may be ready for a new challenge elsewhere.
Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp is an admirer of the playmaker and he has a close relationship with him hence the multiple links with Liverpool over the last few seasons. As yet though nothing has ever materialised or even looked close and there’s no suggestion that we could make a move for him at the present time.
However, there are suggestions that Götze could be available for a knocked-down fee which may be of interest to Klopp so it could be worth listening out for any references to him while his future is uncertain. KOPTALK sources have been quick to point out that the current chatter could be coming from his agent what with Dortmund pushing for the player to commit to a new contract with them.
Dortmund CEO Hans Joachim Watzke commented earlier this month that they wanted to retain Götze. He said: “Our aim is that Mario further stays with us.
“Mario has seen a very positive development over the past few weeks, and both parties know what we have and will soon be sitting down”.
Arsenal have been linked with Götze who scored 7 goals and provided 7 assists for Dortmund in 34 games last season.
