Mario Götze leaves door open on possible Liverpool transfer

Mario Gotze

Mario Götze has responsed to reports that Liverpool are interested in signing him and he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a transfer to Anfield.

The 23-year-old German ace is wanted by Jürgen Klopp and representatives of the Reds are making moves behind the scenes to see if something could be done in the summer.

Commenting on the link, Götze said: “I’m under contract here until 2017. We will see what happens.

“No one has contacted me yet.”

Meanwhile, the player’s club Bayern Munich have rubbished the possibility of doing business with Liverpool.

Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer said: “Every day new nonsense comes along. That is all I am going to say on this.”

Sammer’s comments should be dismissed. Money talks. But right now the only talk we would pay attention to is that coming from Götze’s mouth and his words are encouraging.

However, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) would need to sanction a deal and there would of course be competition which means this could prove difficult for Liverpool to pull off. But, it’s not impossible so we would advise you to monitor this one closely.

Like yourself, we won’t get our hopes up but this is a genuine link and we have to place faith in the manager. If he can make it happen, he will.
