Manuel Lanzini speculation returns

Manuel Lanzini

Speculation linking Liverpool with a possible move for West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini has returned.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder, who helped steer the Hammers away from relegation due to his five goals and six assists this season, was linked with the Reds a few months back, around the same time that Philippe Coutinho was instigating his January transfer to Barcelona. The suggestion is again that we are looking at him as a replacement for the Brazilian.

Today’s reports are very speculative and there’s nothing as yet to suggest that Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp is indeed considering making an offer for him. Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir remains a primary target but unless that somehow falls through, we can’t see the Reds turning to Lanzini just yet.

A number of midfielders continue to be linked with the Reds now that the summer transfer window is almost upon us. With Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain expected to be out until November and Emre Can expected to leave when his contract expires, Klopp is looking for additional options despite the imminent arrival of Naby Keïta.

Nice midfielder Jean Michaël Seri, who was linked with us back in August last year, also continues to be linked with a possible move to Anfield although it would appear that Arsenal have emerged as favourites to sign him despite not having a manager in place following Arsene Wenger’s resignation.

It is reported that Seri has a £35million release clause in his contract but so far Liverpool have opted not to trigger it despite his apparent willingness to make the switch to Anfield.
