Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp will not force Emre Can out of the club in the summer if he fails to put pen to paper on a new contract.
The 23-year-old midfielder only has a year remaining on his existing contract and although talks are ongoing, the player has been in no rush to commit to a new deal.
Can has rubbished claims by the local media that the reason for him not inking a new deal is because of money. He claims he’s happy at Anfield and that he would be happy to play for the Reds “for many years”. He has instead suggested it’s about where he plays in the team.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Klopp will not try and cash in on him in the summer and will risk going into next season with the player’s contract running dangerously low. The manager is hopeful that a new deal will be inked so he doesn’t feel the need to freeze him out of his plans.
